Tideborn Dominion

★★★★☆ 4.3 Editor rating

Tideborn Dominion drops you onto a scattered archipelago with one port and too many ambitions. It's a proper 4X — explore, expand, exploit, exterminate — squeezed into sessions you can actually finish. The twist is that everything moves by sea, so controlling trade lanes matters more than raw army size.

Early games are tense because supply lines are fragile. Lose a convoy and your frontier colony quietly rots. Once you learn to escort shipments and read the AI's habits, matches open up into long, satisfying chess games across the water.

It's not the prettiest strategy game on mobile, but the systems are tight and the pace is well judged. Auto-save meant I could put a war on hold mid-turn and pick it up hours later without losing my train of thought.
