Emberwatch Chronicles
Emberwatch Chronicles is the kind of RPG that respects your patience. Combat is turn-based on a small grid, and positioning matters as much as raw stats — flank an enemy and your rogue triples her damage, misjudge a corridor and your healer gets swarmed. It scratches the tactics itch without demanding a controller.
The writing carries it. Side characters have opinions, remember your choices, and occasionally leave the party if you push them too far. I spent more time reading tavern gossip than grinding, and the game clearly wants you to.
Progression is generous but not mindless. You'll rebuild your party a few times as new classes unlock, and the crafting system is deep enough to tinker with but never a second job. It runs smoothly even on older hardware, which is rare for something this dense.
